Troublemaking Siblings

Question

Our two youngest children, when together, are troublemakers. They are 6 and 7, but when they are together they revert to large babies—don’t do their chores, lay around, giggle, tickling, bickering, talking baby, making messes. They’ll wander aimlessly around looking for trouble and do things they know they shouldn’t do. The grandparents have also commented that they are a handful when together versus separate.

Therefore, I’ve been keeping them apart and then transitioning them individually through different activities: drawing for an hour, playing in the backyard for an hour or so, riding bicycle for an hour or so, etc., in the hopes that they’ll discover their own interests.

Please, any thoughts on a long-term solution would be greatly appreciated.
