Question
My question is "Should I let my 14 year-old son get an eBike?" I've read "Teen Proofing" and want to give him more freedom to get around on his own, but these ebikes are really "eMotorcycles" - they go about as fast and his friends ride them in traffic like motorcycles. By asking him what he wants to do with it, he says he mostly just wants to ride around town with his friends - his friends who I've been behind in traffic on their ebikes. It would be one thing if he wanted to use it to get to a job or get to the beach and surf, but that's not what he says he wants it for. Meanwhile, I'm concerned that he's bored which is a bad thing for teenagers. My wife says she can take him places 5 out of 7 days a week and I should stop worrying about this. What do you think?
