4 Year Old Picky Eater

Question

My soon-to-be 4 year old is an extremely picky eater. He screams and pitches a fit if he even sees a new food or non-preferred food on his plate. As a baby, he had horrible reflux and constipation and there is some research that shows GI problems can lead to behavioral feeding issues later in life. We have tried to approach this with both a feeding specialist and an occupational therapist. We have tried to just have him tolerate the new foods on his plate (meaning he cannot remove them) and he will do this and then we moved to him touching the food, which he will do. But he will NOT take a bite of any of it. It has become so frustrating and we dread mealtime. Will the method described in the Well Behaved Child book actually work a child like this, given his history?
